Overview
The Goo Grenade is a thrown gadget which detonates on impact, rapidly deploying Goo in a 4x2 horizontal rectangle unless obstructed. Deploying the goo perpendicular to the user when thrown on a flat surface and deploying perpendicular to the given wall when thrown on a wall.
Uses & Interactions
Goo is an extremely versatile equipment item that provides a lot of very unique utility for positioning and creating cover. As with all Goo, it can be rapidly destroyed with fire. Refer to: How to Counter Goo & How to Deal with Turrets.
It can be used to make quick barriers that block oncoming fire in a pinch, making it useful for a retreat to cut off line of sight between you and other contestants as well as disabling turrets. There's also placing it down pre-emptively to create cover to retreat behind incase you meet a little more enemies than your clip size was ready for.
It can also influence enemy movement by allowing you to block chokepoints like doorways, tight corridors, tunnels, stairwells, ziplines and much, much more.
One notable thing about Goo grenades is how they deploy on walls. When a Goo Grenade is placed on the ground it deploys perpendicular to the direction the thrower is facing, but when goo is thrown on walls it creates a wall that is perpendicular to the wall it was deployed on. In other words it "spreads" outwards from the wall.
This property allows for limitless potential in new movement opportunities. Is there a gap between 2 buildings you can't clear? Use goo on the target building's wall and create a bridge between them that can be clambered. Falling off the map? Throw goo at your feet towards the nearest wall and if you're quick enough the goo will catch you and allow you the opportunity to collect yourself and either use a jump pad, grapple hook or other movement ability to return to the fight. A ledge too high to clamber up? Throw some goo on the wall and you can climb up it and climb up that ledge with your newfound platform.
You can also use goo to get unexpected angles by throwing goo on a wall beneath a window to catch opponents through the window off guard by picking them off on the outside platform.
