The Sword is a melee weapon available to the Light Build.
Overview
Attacking with primary fire will quickly slash the Sword, dealing a moderate amount of damage. Holding secondary fire and releasing will perform a high-damage stab, where the user will lunge forward a short distance and deal heavy damage to its target.
As opposed to the Dagger, the Sword does not deal bonus damage from behind.
Since the Sword belongs to the Light Build, it generally fulfils a "Hit and Run" playstyle.
Useful damage combinations include:
- 1 Alt Fire → Quick Melee = 180 Damage (Eliminates Light)
- 1 Alt Fire → 1 Primary Fire → Quick Melee = 254 Damage (Eliminates Medium)
- 2 Alt Fire = 280 Damage (Eliminates Medium)
- 2 Alt Fire → 1 Primary Fire = 354 Damage (Eliminates Heavy)
Using the alternate fire function (lunge) immediately followed by an Evasive Dash can dash the player up to 15 meters, which is useful for quickly moving around the map or closing the distance to an opponent.
Pros and Cons
The Sword has high damage potential, and is used as an aggressive melee-range weapon. It has a slightly longer range than the Dagger.
Like many other melee weapons, the Sword leaves the wielder vulnerable to attackers when they are not within striking range.

Trivia
- The alternate fire function (lunge) for the Sword was added in CB2.
- The Katana skin added with S3 was heavily teased throughout pre-release material and trailers. Although expected to be it's own weapon type, it ended up being a skin instead.
